ImmersiveTouch is a surgical simulation platform that uses Augmented and Virtual Reality to train surgeons and to plan surgical operations.
The main innovation brought by this platform is the use of haptic devices as controllers that, moreover than tracking user movements and simulating surgeons’ instruments, gives the user a feedback that mimics the interactions with different human body tissues. This, mixed with a virtual reality headset like HTC Vive or Oculus Rift and joined with the possibility to use data from real patients, makes this system useful in several scenarios. One being, giving doctors the possibility to practice before an operation without any risk.
